Carvel Boyd Lonsdale
Born in 1964 as a pleasant surprise to good parents, he now sports only a few grey hairs. Learned to ride a bike at the age of twenty on a borrowed bike. He now understands why his friend was so upset when he fell and chipped the expensive paint job (sorry Martin). Educated in the ways of classical and modern history at Newcastle Upon Tyne University. Educated in the ways of life by Oddie's Bakery and the once proud Northumberland Fusaliers. He has brought all of these skills to the teaching of Design Technology to pupils with moderate learning difficulties in the town of Burnley; a job in which the ability to see 'that which is invisible to the eye' is paramount. Apart from cycling his other interests include climbing, Jack Russels and painting model soldiers. His most recent new adventure has been his involvement with www.singletrackworld.com, née www.gofar-mtb.com. Glad to be still married to the same woman, Susan, after eleven years (touch wood) and proud father to Edward and Rose.

Carvel carved this from a block of wood which held his classroom door open. He said it really wanted to be something more than just a block of wood. It links his love of cycling to his interest in both history and sculpture.
